Abstract
SID 2000 was held in Long Beach, California from May 15 through May 19, 2000. It was introduced that the mass production of the low-cost amorphous TFT-LCDs were started earnestly in Korea and Taiwan. On the other hand, new application fields of the flat panel displays are being searched for more actively in Japan, USA or Europe. Especially, much attention was paid to some reports about the display manufacturing process onto the plastic substrates, for example, printing process of the liquid crystal cells(Stuttgart University), the chip bonding process for plastic film LCDs(Korea Electronics Technology Institute) or the transfer process of the low-temperature poly-Si TFT circuits onto the plastic films(SEIKO EPSON). These technologies are expected to realize the novel display device with lightweight, flexibility and impact durability.
