Abstract
Europium-activated batium magnesium aluminate(BaMgAl_<10>O_<17>:Eu^<+2> BAM) is used for color PDPs as a blue phosphor. However, luminance decrease and color shift, which originate in the deterioration of BAM, are the most important problems to be solved. In this research, the tricolor phosphors for PDP were examined when a phosphor film was heat-treated and irradiated by vacuum ultraviolet rays. After defining the deterioration of the BAM, improvement of the deterioration was studied in detail by adopting BAN solid solutions. It is indicated that the deterioration can be improved both on the heat-treating and the vacuum ultraviolet ray irradiation in the BAM solid solution compared to the conventional blue phosphor.
