Abstract
This paper describes a distance learning system for multiple users and its trial use at the Hanoi University of Technology(HUT)in Vietnam. With this system, a teacher and students communicate in a 3D virtual space and share 2D documents. Previous trials have shown that it is necessary for the teacher to be able to control the availability of the students' communication media. After improvement of the system, NTT and HUT are collaborating on evaluation of the system and are studying how Vietnamese use virtual communication media. This paper also describes the experimental environment of the ongoing trials and the goals of these trials.
