International Standard for Multimedia Content Retrieval:MPEG-7 : Visual content description using MPEG-7/Visual

Abstract

This paper presents an introduction of new International Standard named MPEG phase 7. MPEG-7 is a latest international standard for multimedia content description to improve the accessibility to the multimedia contents. It enables us to know the information of the contents without any expensive decoding or transmission process of the content body. Low-level visual descriptions and some structured textual descriptions are focused on among many standardized items, which are necessary to implement video content retrieval and browsing.
