Abstract
We have developed a video camera recorder using small-size 80mm DVD-RAM with the following features: direct playback by selecting a thumbnail, no accidental overwrite, high-quality picture for a long time, playback on PCs with a 4.7GB DVD-RAM drive, DVD recorders, and future DVD players. This paper presents two technical features in the DVD-RAM camera. The first one is the real-time recording technique of DVD-RAM drive with power-saving management. The second one is the PC interface that provides an easy-to-use environment for handling user data, motion pictures and still pictures.
