Abstract
Recently, large size LCDs have been widly used for LCD monitor and TV application. High luminous flux and long lifetime are required for the cold cathode fluoresent lamp(CFL). We developed a CFL with a protection layer between the phosphor layer and the glass tube, and phosphor coated with fine particles. The total lumen maintenance and the chromaticity maintenance were improved in the developed CFLs. We also confirmed the improvement in the luminance maintenance of the backlight unit with the developed CFLs. Especially in the unit which used many pieces of CFLs, surface reflectance of the lamp contributes to the improvement of the lumen maintenance.
