A Method for Measuring Bit Error Ratio for Digital Cable Television Signals

Abstract

BS digital broadcasting has been started since December 2000, In cable television systems, the BS digital broadcasting is retransmitted by BS trans-modulation system handled multiple MPEG-TSs by the adoption of 64QAM. We propose a method of measuring digital transmission characteristics on cable television facilities by counting bit error ratio, superimposition gaussian noise and demodulation 64QAM through the process of software at the end of cable facilities. It has been shown that practical measuring equipment developed on the basis of this method is effective by experiments on actual cable television systems.
