Abstract
High-speed data transfer was investigated for hard disk system by a computer simulation. In particular, reduction of the data transfer time by parallel processing was studied. For code data such for usual computer applications, which does not require data continuity, the multi-HDD system exhibited a significantly less transfer time than a single HDD. For video information that must be transferred with constant sustained data rate, the data transfer speed of the multi-HDD was higher, however the improvement tended to be saturated for the number of drives.
