Abstract
The authors proposed an ultra-high definition image format (QHD: Quadruple HD), which provides double the resolution of HDTV image format in both lengthwise and crosswise. Based on this format, we developed QHD camera, which captures each color of RGB by single chip, and QHD projector, which displays each color of RGB by single chip. On the other hand, many common carriers begin to provide high-speed network services, as a consequence, 100 Mbps network service is made available to users at their home. In this paper, we would like to describe the outline and the result of a subjectivity evaluation experiment of the QHD image carried out using the still-frame picture. From this experiment, we can get the high evaluation to the QHD image and the evaluation result about the influence of the compression rate and tile size at the time of compressing by JPEG2000. We would like to propose an image distribution model as one of the applications of WHD images or QHD images for homes. This model offers the contents which are effective, high-definition and adapted for a viewer's needs using the tiling function of JPEG2000. Also, we would like to describe about the outline and important points about this model.
