Abstract

In resent years, people have attracted attention to practical use of museum resources for school education through the Internet all over the world. We have developed web-based system by using XML. The system helps us to use the digital museum resources effectively among museum, school, and research organization on network. The Museum Network, which we have defined, is a model to indicate how to deal with digital resources in our system what we call "Online Teaching Material" etc. efficiently. In our study, we have developed these systems for the purpose of the use at school: "Online Teaching Material", "School Trip Guidance", "Museum Search System", "Museum Resource Registration Form". In the system, once we register a museum resource by using "Museum Resource Registration Form", we can deal with the resource in every system of ours. Then we can use them in class or in the school trip effectively. Moreover, we can select the exact resource from database by using meta-data and connect different resources according to user's purpose or demand. Therefore, we expect strong collaboration between museum and school on the Web by using our system.
