Abstract
A vision system that is consisted of a silicon retina and a FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) was presented. A silicon retina is an intelligent CMOS imager which emulates real-time image processing funcion of the vertebrate retina. With the ability of effective preprocessing and specific applicable circuit, this system can perform robust image processing in natural scenes. A compact hardware and low power consamption allow this vision system to be embedded in small robots or devices.
