Abstract
We have investigated a reflective-type bistable TN-LCD (R-BTN) aiming at the application to a high-performance electronic paper. A theoretical study indicates that two LC alignment states with 72°- and 432°- twisted angles are one of the most suitable combination to use as a reflective-type bistable mode with high reflectance, high contrast, and a good black and white image.
