Abstract
We have newly developed a prototype of the auto stereoscopic 3-D displays by using a newly developed LC panel with very large number of pixels. This 3-D display consists of a pinhole array instead of the Image Splitter we have developed so far. The pinhole array creates the horizontal and vertical parallax image with VGA resolution per one eye. And many viewers can observe 3-D images at the same time from wide viewpoints. The advantage of this display is tis simple structure and thus lower manufacturing cost will be expected for a future 3D-TV set. This research was performed in connection with the national project by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) in Japan.
