Ferromagnetic Hall effects have been used to evaluate the magnetization process and the magnetic interparticle interaction in the recording layer of double-layered perpendicular magnetic recording media having a soft magnetic layer under the recording layer. Recording layer and the soft magnetic underlayer, which possess different magnetic anisotropy, reveal different symmetries in the Hall voltage characteristics with respect to the applied magnetic field. This difference has been applied to detect the magnetization process in these layers. Moreover, initial magnetization curves for the recording layer have been extracted to evaluate the magnetic interaction among particles in the recording layer of a double-layered media under the application of canted magnetic field.
