Some Japanese historical materials, such as folding screens or scrolls, are extremely large but depict very fine objects. A super high-definition free viewing system for these materials has been developed to solve the problem that the full details or entire figures cannot be observed because of lighting limitation or their shape. The system is capable of displaying large images, allowing the image to be scaled for viewing from any location at an appropriate size by magnification ratio of over 100 times. The effectiveness of the system comes from intuitive user interface and smooth, gradual magnification or movement of images.
