Abstract
In order to quantitatively evaluate retinal diseases, it is important to measure the thickness between internal limiting membrane of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium in the images obtained by an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The purpose of this study is a development of Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) scheme for measuring the retinal thickness with high precision. In our CAD scheme, internal limiting membrane of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium was first extracted by proposed the filters for edge enhancement. Using the result, the retinal thickness was then measured automatically. The performance of our CAD scheme was evaluated by 40 optical coherence tomographic images obtained at Kyoto University Hospital. Our CAD scheme measured the retinal thickness at rate of 62.5% (25/40) correctly.
