Abstract
A new PON protection architecture has been proposed. In this architecture, two PON systems are combined with optical splitters and optical switches as such that one OLT can accommodate all of ONUs when failure occurs at the other OLT. This paper also has reported that our experiments have confirmed the feasibility of the proposed architecture and has reported the fault time.
