Abstract
When we connect HAF(Hole-Assisted Fiber), it is desirable to use a mechanical splice from the view point of economical reasons and easy handling. Therefore, we have clarified factors of excess losses when we connect HAF, and we developed a new mechanical splice using a new index matching material. Characteristics of a new mechanical splice are good in order to be used in the field. We also developed a new optical fibre cables closure which contains HAF from the view point of decreasing number of items and assembling time, in order to utilize a characteristic of HAF that a bending loss is quite low. We have measured assembling time of a newly developed closure, it is found that 25% of the time is reduced.
