Abstract
These days, new types of display have been proposed as new technologies and ideas for interface developed, igniting discussions on what should be the shape of ideal display. We propose Bloxels, our new concept of display whose physical shape can be grasped and created by human so that people could have more intuitive access to information by taking advantage of physical reality of blocks. A Bloxel is a translucent cubical block that glows in full color according to the transmitted data from the neighboring Bloxel, and works as a volumetric pixel when a user stacks hundreds of Bloxels to build displays with a variety of shapes.
