Abstract
Eye-mark recorder has been widely used to record drivers' eye movement patterns. However, since eye-mark recorder strongly restricts drivers' movements, continuous use of the recorder could be stressful to drivers. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a low-stress method to estimate drivers' check around behavior by using wireless 3-D gyro sensors. Our method is based on assumption that when performing a potentially dangerous maneuvor (e.g. turning intersections), many drivers would turn their head to check traffic conditions around a vehicle. To evaluate the efficiency of our method, we study relationships among eye-mark data and gyro data in real traffic conditions.
