Abstract

Front projection is often used for wide view-angle image projection in our accessible environment like an usual room, because of the space-limitation. However, the front projection generates viewer's shadows according to its view position, and they deteriorate quality and immersion of the projected images. Therefore, in this research, we propose an expansion of viewable areas with seamless switching of front-projected multiple projectors. In this approach, two projectors cover a same area redundantly, and with a previous measured response function, they are seamlessly switched to the projector which generates no shadows of the viewer. As a result, we can provide a novel front projection in which viewers can walk around freely.
