High-Precision Registration and Super-resolution for Video Image

The image registration is an essential technique for image stabilization and synthesis of a high-resolution image using multiple frames in camcorder. We have developed a novel system, called TEVRAIS, for detecting intra-frame camera shake and inter-frame one simultaneously by analyzing the camera image of a video test pattern. Many methods for detecting the sub-pixel displacement between two frames for arbitrary subject have also been proposed. In this paper, we focus on the phase-only correlation method and evaluate the performance of sub-pixel registration by comparing with detection results using TEVRAIS. Finally the video image super-resolution based on the phase-only correlation and the Kalman filter is presented.
