Multi-parameter motion compensation under cost constraint

Abstract

A multi-parameter motion estimation/compensation model is desirable for an improvement of video coding efficiency. Since, however, motion estimation on a multi-parameter model inevitably requires high computational costs, a reduction of the cost is necessary. This paper thus proposes a new multi-parameter motion estimation/compensation technique based on reliability metrics for motion estimation under a constraint for the computational cost. The validity of the proposed technique is investigated through some experimental results.
