Abstract
It would be very important to determine system requirements of multi-view 3D displays for accurate reproduction of appearance. However, it is generally difficult to determine the requirements because it is difficult to change parameters of 3D displays systematically. We overcame this difficulty by developing a simulator of a multi-view 3D display that enabled us to change the viewpoint interval and the magnitude of crosstalk, and by using this simulator, we psychophysically investigated the conditions in which perceived glossiness is accurately reproduced. We found that glossiness reproduction is best when the viewpoint interval is small and there is a small, but not too small, amount of crosstalk.
