File-based production systems are now being introduced in the television broadcast field. The present field pick-up unit (FPU), which is one of wireless links, cannot transmit a file-based video resource as it is, since the FPU is basically a simplex and fixed-rate system. We have started developing new wireless links that enable quick transmission of file-based video resources. In this report, we describe a method to implement the TDD scheme that achieves the maximum transmission efficiency, and evaluate the performance of the prototype baseband transceiver equipped with the method. Furthermore, we produce a prototype TDD-based bi-directional digital FPU system comprised of the baseband transceiver, an RF front-end, and a dual-polarized parabolic antenna with a splash plate, and evaluate the transmission performance in an anechoic chamber. As a result, our proposed system was confirmed to potentially provide the data rate of over 180 Mbps in the long distance of 50 km by combining the TDD scheme with 2x2 MIMO and 256 QAM modulation schemes.
