Abstract
This paper addresses comparison of coding performance of Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) system and Perceptual Quantizer (PQ) system, which are both adopted for ultra-high definition television broadcasting services. For comparing coding performance between different HDR video formats, we conducted objective quality evaluation using delta-E measurement in CIE 1976 L*a*b* color space. The experimental results show that coding artifacts of HLG system in terms of delta E are less than those of PQ system for almost all the test sequences used. Additionally, color artifacts in PQ system were observed, which were caused by signal conversion and strong non-linearity of transfer characteristics.
