Abstract
Recently, various types of radio communication devices such as cellular phones have become common. Therefore, influence with the electromagnetic wave emitted from these equipment is widely concerned. In particular, Absorbed EM energy in the human body mainly imparts a thermal effect to tissues. The specific absorption rate (SAR) is used as the standard dosimetric parameter for international safety guidelines for radio frequency exposures. In this report, a normal mode helical antenna (NHA) with metallic case was modeled realistically. Moreover, SAR due to a transceiver in very high frequency (VHF) band, which are used in relay broadcasting, program producers etc., is investigated. As a result of calculations, possibilities of increasing the SAR were observed. However, all calculated SARs were below the international safety guidelines.
