We aimed to reveal the effects of facial impression manipulations on face recognition in terms of recognition performance and eye-movement pattern. At first, the recognition experiments were conducted using face images: Their facial impressions have been manipulated in positive and negative directions. Then, eye movement during encoding and recognizing those face images was analyzed. As the result, it is suggested the manipulated facial impression strengthened by the way of the negative implication affect the collation process of the faces.
