Computer-Assisted Colorization to Freehand Line Drawings by Tablet for Sketch Scenes

Abstract

We propose a method for computer-assisted colorization to freehand line drawings with reference to a photograph taken by a tablet terminal. In our previous work, there is a system for automatic coloring to line drawings entered by tracing reference images. The system has a problem that the degrees of freedom of position and size of objects in line drawings are insufficient as the positions of objects in line drawings are fixed at ones in the reference images. In this study, we try to solve this problem by incorporating the registration process that linearly maps the reference image to the drawing canvas at the beginning or the middle of the line drawing production. As the result of it, we expect that line drawings can be produced with the user’s preferred and size．
