8-6 Development of a Fast/High-Visual Quality H.264 Software Encoder

Abstract

We have developed a software encoder of the broadly used H.264. In order to achieve fast encoding while maintaining compression efficiency, it uses various speed-up techniques and subjective visual quality driven encoder optimization. In this paper, we report some of the core methods and the performance of this encoder.
