Metal salt precipitation type electrochromic element for continuously variable neutral density filters

Abstract

To achieve an active optical filter for television cameras, we created a prototype of a metal salt precipitation-type electrochromic dimming element. We found that the transmittance could be reversibly varied in response to an applied voltage, and that flat optical transparency could be obtained across the entire visible light region.
