Performance Evaluation of Adaptive Rate Control Considering Viewing Area in 360-degree Video Streaming

Abstract

In this paper, to provide high-quality 360-degree DASH video delivery, we evaluate an efficient adaptive rate control method by considering user’s field of view. In this method, we assume field of view as a Region of Interest (ROI) and apply a ROI-based encoding technique. Evaluation results conclude that this method achieves high PSNR values of field of view images.
