Abstract
In an effort to maintain a high standard of competence among the practitioners in the translation and interpreting profession, NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) implemented a new system of revalidation of accreditation starting on January 1st 2007. Under this system, individuals that gained NAATI Accreditation after January 1st 2007 will need to revalidate their accreditation every three years. Although this new system has been implemented, the first round of revalidation will not start until 2010. Therefore, the consequence of this system is still unknown. This paper provides an overview of the new revalidation system and examines the issues involved.
