Abstract
Incorporating heterogeneous life expectancy in gender, this paper analyzes the effect of income redistribution policy among family members on household allocation in a family bargaining model. It is shown that a mandatory income transfer policy from husbands to wives induces a decline in fertility rate and an increase in household savings. We also consider the effects of aging of each gender on household allocations.
