Abstract

We examined cases in which operation was performed in the intensive care unit (ICU) in 2 years from April 2015 to March 2017. The aim of this study was to clarify the status and issues about operation at ICU. A total of 6 patients (1 case in the chest, 5 cases in the abdomen) underwent 10 surgical procedures. There were ranged cases from relatively simple operations such as observation and closed abdominal to complicated such as intestinal and pancreatic resection. Although the shortage of staff was a problem, if the operation could not be performed in the operation room, it is necessary to perform an operation at ICU.
