Abstract
Our outlook on life is changing rapidly because of the progress in technology. But when we discuss the problems of bioethics in Japan, it seems to me that we have not yet made remarkable improvement in basic studies of life. In this paper, in the first place, I have considered whether in Japan these days the foetus is thought to have human rights or not, and whether it is looked upon as right that the foetus is"utilised" for our experiments. And in the second place, I have considered how people think about the relation between brain death and organ transplantation. And I have come to the conclusion that we should leave these problems to the open discussion. The problems of the bioethics have essentially no resolutions, and our discussion can never be completely finished.
