A case of occlusal rehabilitation of elderly patient with conical telescopic double crown removable prosthesis

Abstract

Due to root fracture or bridge fracture, teeth may not be preserved. It is a serious situation at any age, but deterioration of masticatory function can lead to deterioration of general health, especially in the elderly. In this case, root fracture and bridge fracture occurred in succession, and the cause of eating disorder due to mandibular molar defect was analyzed by occlusal examination and diagnosed in accordance with mouth-as-a-unit approach. Furthermore, in consideration of occlusal rehabilitation, ease of maintenance, and long-term stability, a treatment plan was formulated to recover the occlusion with a removable partial floor denture using the Konus-crown telescope technique for the abutment. As a result, an appropriate occlusal relationship was obtained and the masticatory ability was improved, and good results and patient satisfaction were obtained.
