Abstract

S. Diaghilev's Ballets Russes had a great influence on cultural situation in the first half of the twentieth century. In this paper, we will investigate the performance of Diaghilev as an impresario from the viewpoints of culutural history and of economics. By thinking of Diaghilev as an intermediator of various fields we can understand the meanings of his business, which have not been discernd by most of the people who enjoy arts.
