Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine how much high school students taking Classical Japanese B learn the subject, become cooperative and gain social skills through activities emphasizing student interactions in class. The results showed that cooperative class groups achieved higher results. In terms of relational skills (one of the social skills) there was interaction between cooperative class groups and non-cooperative class groups, and the former achieved more relational skills. Future research should focus on social skills required for active learning as well as its training methods, and practical research related to those skills.
