Abstract
The resection of certain recurrent malignancies can prolong survival, but the resection of recurrent pancreatic cancer is typically contraindicated because of poor outcomes. We retrospectively analyzed patients who received pulmonary metastasectomy from pancreatic cancer. Nine patients operated on from Jan. 2004 to Dec. 2014 were included in this analysis. During the study, 3 patients developed recurrence after metastasectomies. The other 6 patients are alive without recurrence. There were trends toward a good prognosis after relapse in the prolonged disease-free interval group. Patients with resectable pulmonary recurrence of pancreatic cancer after a prolonged disease-free interval should be considered for pulmonary resection.
