Possibilities for Utilizing Qualitative Research in Higher Education: Background of the Research Issues and Purpose of the Symposium

Abstract

  This report briefly summarizes the pursuit of the possibility of utilizing qualitative research in the field of higher education. This report describes our research activities conducted to solve the following two issues: (1) what kind of qualitative research should be used in university education practice and how to apply the results of qualitative research to university education and (2) how to form a rich qualitative research community. Regarding the latter, we explains the collaboration with the committee for improving research skills in higher education research and describe the aim of the symposium to provide a concrete vision for the future.
