Abstract

The object of the present study is to evaluate the adequacy of various ways of water area use with respect to marine environments taking the case of Hakata Bay. The ways of water area use taken up in the present study are the recreational use such as dinghy yachts, motorboats and water restaurants, the use for fisheries, reclamation, tide land for natural preservation, etc The extent of adequacy of those ways of use are evaluated by comparing the existing marine condition such as wave characteristics , tidal currents, water depth, water quality, sediments, plankton, landscape, etc with the conditions which are required from the above ways of water area use. The extent of adequacy in each location of the water area is scoured and displayed in meshes on the plane map of Hakata Bay, which resulted in an excellent achievement as was expected.
