Abstract
“Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Acute Pancreatitis Based on Evidence : First Edition” was published in July, 2003. New bodies of evidence were searched systematically from 2000 to 2006 relating to severity assessments and the transfer criteria and were added to those of the First Edition. True clinic and questionnaire results were furthermore considered, and based on these, we updated the contents of the Guidelines. Obesity and Ht were the important factors which related to the severity and pancreatic necrosis rate. In addition, we emphasized the availability of enhanced CT. We described the results based on the existing severity score and attached score (tentative) information of a revision plan as reference in about April, 2008. Furthermore, we mentioned the importance of chronologic severity assessments for early stage pancreatitis. Regarding the criteria for transfer to a specialist unit, we took the questionnaire results into account and wrote about the criteria in detail. Because the new criteria and the new severity score have been newly announced, we will plan further revision of the contents of the Guidelines.
