Abstract
A 29-year-old woman was admitted with abdominal pain. She had a previous operation for necrotic appendicitis and a re-operation for a residual abscess when she was 5 years old. She was diagnosed as having an adhesive ileus and received conservative therapy. On the 4th day after admission, an emergency operation was conducted for severe abdominal symptoms. We chose single incision laparoscopic surgery for the purpose of evaluation of the cosmetic results. The intraoperative finding was intestinal ischemia due to a mesenteric band. As the strangulated intestine was pulled out and the band was cut extracorporeally, perfusion of the intestinal tract was restored. The patient was discharged on the 8th day after operation, and as yet no recurrence has been observed.
