Abstract
Multiple malignant lesions are sometimes recognized simultaneously in patients with colorectal carcinoma. In cases of colorectal surgery, it is important to confirm other lesions with preoperative colonoscopy. However, it is difficult to examine the total large bowel by colonoscopy preoperatively in patients with total obstructive colorectal cancer. We therefore performed MDCT virtual colonoscopy with carbon dioxide injection through a transanal reduction tube to examine the oral side of the obstructive lesions. MDCT virtual colonoscopy with carbon dioxide inflation was useful for preoperative large bowel screening in patients with an obstruction caused by colorectal cancer.
