Abstract
In Japanese agricultural administration, the JA (Japanese Agricultural Cooperative Association) had got a strong collaborative relationship between the LDP and MAFF. Therefore the LDP has been supported by many farmers. In the 2007 Upper House election and the 2009 Lower House election, however, many farmers voted for DPJ. Why did they vote for DPJ? This paper examines that the evaluation of the LDP's agricultural policy and the impact of the nogyosha kobetsu shotoku hosho seido in the DPJ's Manifesto for 2009 general election had on their voting behavior by a mail survey for the farmhouse. I found that the evaluation of the the LDP's agricultural policy affected their voting behavior and it is different from the evaluation of the full-time farmer between the evaluation of the farmer with a side job. In the attitude toward relation to the politics, there is difference in both. Many full-time farmers hope to be independent of any political party. The JA is not, as is generally believed, monolithic anymore.
