Outline of Nuclear Ship Home Port

Abstract

Brief descripfion is given of the plan of construction of the proiected servicing home port for the nuclear ship. The location selected is the Port of Ominato in the northern part of Honshu and will be constructed in parallel with the building of Japan's first nuclear ship.
The port will support the operation of the nuclear ship with her shore servicing facilities, which will be prepared to refuel the marine reactor and treat radioactive wastes, as well as repair the reactor plant when necessary.
Among the major facilities to be constructed are a wharf crane, a service building for fuel handling and storing facilities, a waste freatment plant, a sub-staion and an office building.
