ew Interpretation of Prompt Neutron Lifetime

Abstract

The mean length to production of a neutron is shown to be not equal to the reciprocal macroscopic neutron production cross section. It is proved that the conventional prompt neutron lifetime is physically equal to the mean time from birth of a neutron to neutron production for an infinite model. The interpretation makes clear the confusion on the time production for an infinite model. The interpretation makes clear the confusion on the time parameters of reactor kinetices.
