Abstract
Most of the Northeast Brazil is characterized by tropical semi-arid climate and suffers from severe periodical droughts for a long time. The Governments have been developing water resources to cope with droughts and to stablize living standard.
In this paper, the author discussed the present situations of water resources, their characteristics, their problems and the possibility of their developments with reference to groundwater. A realistic approach of groundwater development is also proposed.
