Abstract

The review of ion-exchange studies by the author has been given in chronological order. Among radiochemical investigation, successful application of ion-exchange resins was highlighted: 1) the first hot-atom chemistry in this country was carried out with arsenate-loaded anion-exchange resins, 2) measurement of β-ray spectra was made for 56Co nuclear levels by the use of β-source of carrier-free 56Ni separated by ion-exchange chromatography, 3) use of copper for monitoring proton beam in a cyclotron in the study of uranium fission.
The investigation of inorganic ion-exchanger of zirconium phosphate-type was described: 1) the ion-exchange characteristics was studied for tracer-scale loading of counter-ions, 2) phase transition of exchangers during pH titration for alkali metal cations and the selectivities toward them were studied, special emphasis was laid on ion-exchange behavior of α-hafnium phosphate, 3) host-guest reaction by using layered crystalline zirconium phosphates as host, and the possibility of complex formation of transition metals within the interlayer space were examined.
